Happy New Year! I’ve just arrived back home to L.A., after an refreshing week-long vacation in Maui. I’m so excited to dive back in to giving you an even deeper glimpse into my world, and I can’t wait to continue build the #AlphaBabe blog into your one-stop power source for a glamorous life on the grind. And with hard work, must come good rest.

Dinner at Mama’s Fish House was so fresh! A must-go spot.

Aside from the fresh seafood, beautiful beaches & stunning sunsets in Maui, I also enjoyed some much needed down-time (with some of my close friends to hang out with too)! It was tempting to constantly be on social media, check work emails, or edit videos, but I had to remind myself: You’re on vacation. So BE on vacation!

Mindfulness has always been my greatest struggle.

img_1581My mind is always in a million places. It’s my blessing & my curse (and Gemini ways, ha). I’m always full of new, creative ideas; always making lists, and running around. Therefore, I get a lot accomplished and enjoy the feeling of creating new things. But too much leads to burnout — and an inability to fully focus on or enjoy any moment I’m in, because…

I’m already thinking about the next moment. Or a different way in which a past moment could have gone. But what good use is that?

To ‘concentrate one’s mind on the present moment’ may be a simply directive, but it is one of the hardest things to actually do. And so, I have no crazy resolutions for 2017 (let’s be real – I’d probably break most of them before MLK Jr. Day).

I’m only committing myself to a whole-hearted attempt to be mindful, present & positive in every moment this year brings my way… and to give the best of myself in each of those moments. Oh – and to seek my true HAPPINESS above all else, in ALL things! 💛

Helen Keller once said:

“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.”

The amazing Keller also said:

“Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.”

And so that is my challenge to myself — and to you — this year. Regardless of the resolutions, promises, or ideas you have in regards to 2017, let’s try to do this:

Be present in every moment: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

A moment that was more than easy to dive into. 😉

Because, are we living life at all if our mind is never in the same spot as our physical bodies are? When you eat the burger, really eat it. Take the InstaPic, if you must, but then really eat it. Don’t think about the calories you’ll have to burn at the gym later. That’s later. And you will go burn them. But right now…

Eat. The. Damn. Burger.

So there it is. My hope for 2017. To be able to reflect on every experience I have this year, and truly feel it again – because I allowed myself to be immersed in that moment. I’m hoping the same for you.

Now let’s make 2017 our beeyotch!
